Atlanta woman describes 'terrifying' moments during terror attack in Barcelona

An Atlanta woman on vacation in Barcelona said she faced a terrifying and unexpected situation.

Ella Bartlett said she was just yards away from where a terrorist drove a van into a crowd, killing at least 14 people and injuring 100.

"Terrifying. Very scary. It's kind of the last thing you would expect to happen when you're on vacation, you know?" she said.

Channel 2's Justin Wilfon spoke to Bartlett hours after the attack.

"We're all just shaken up and it doesn't feel real to be honest," she said.

Bartlett said she and her friends were walking down the sidewalk looking for a place to eat.

"We turned around and there were a zillion people just running," she said. "It took a second to sink in, and then we just started running."

Bartlett said she found safety in a restaurant bathroom.

"The girl was crying and we were all shaken up and we didn't really know what we were hiding from," she said.

The woman's father said he saw the reports coming in about the attack and worried about his daughter.

"She's fine, but she was literally a block away," John Bartlett said.

"Just glad we're all OK and very sorry for the people that aren't," Ella Bartlett said.

Ella Bartlett said she plans on staying in Spain for a few more days before moving on to Amsterdam, then back home to Atlanta.
